Manchester City lifted the Women’s FA Cup for the fourth time on Sunday after overcoming Brighton & Hove Albion to complete a domestic double.

Brighton were playing in their first ever WFA Cup Final and rose to the occasion as they dominated the ball for the first 30 minutes of the game, creating several chances. Unfortunately they were not able to take advantage, and once Manchester City had taken the lead in the 38th minute there was only one likely outcome.

It was WSL Golden Boot winner Khadija Shaw who opened the scoring, rising to head home Alex Greenwood’s cross, while Greenwood added a second on the stroke of half-time as she beat the Brighton keeper with a clever free-kick from just outside the penalty area. City added two more goals in the second half through substitutes Aoba Fujino and Vivianne Miedema to complete the victory and round off their most successful season.

We were fortunate to have photographer Ian Middlebrook on hand to capture the action.
