Bridgwater United have set themselves the challenge to break their all time attendance record this weekend.

In February 1997, the original attendance record was set, when 1112 people watched the match against Taunton Town.

This season Bridgwater United have seen crowds growing steadily, thanks to good results and competitive football, both with the women’s team and then men’s.

For the upcoming weekend’s Festival of Football, Bridgwater have two home games as the men take on Saltash United on Saturday and the women face Crawley Wasps on Sunday.

With two home games in one weekend, the club is urging locals to get down to Fairfax Park for what should be a great two days of football and family friendly entertainment.

The weekend begins on the morning of Saturday 28th August when Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust hold their weekly football sessions for young boys and girls for 1-7-year-olds.

The match on Saturday will kick off at 3 pm but before that, Fast and Furious Football will lead the club’s variety of football-themed activities at the ground from 12.30 pm when turnstiles will also open.

As well as a load of activities, the Club’s new Robin Mascot will be present throughout the weekend for selfies and high fives.

The young fans will enjoy the activities, and the adults will have a showcase of local businesses to network with, and charities from Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust’s Community Corner will feature on Sunday.

This will run alongside Sunday’s main event as Bridgwater United FC’s Women’s First Team take on Crawley Wasps in The FA Women’s National League Premier Division, 2 pm kick off.
