Liga BBVA MX Round Up

Week One of the Guard1anes saw the return of the Liga BBVA MX Femenil League after Tigres UANL won the Apertura season over Monterrey 3-2 on penalties on 14th of December 2020. The teams will look to get back underway as the season got underway with the first week seeing 8 games being played between the 16 teams with Santos Laguna and Pubela not being in action.

The opening day saw Queretaro host Mazatlan in a tight game where an early goal for each team, one by Melisa Ramos and one by Maritza Maldonado for the host’s saw the teams level after 12 minutes. But a late goal for the visitors saw them walk away with 3 points as Magaly Cortes netted in the 87th minute. To give Mazatlan the 1-2 win.

It was another away victory on the second day of the return as Cruz Azul walked away with a 0-2 victory against Necaxa with goals from Susana Romero and a late Own Goal to tie up the 3 points on their travels.

U.A.N.M Pumas were next in action as Tijuana visited the game looked destined for a 0-0 draw until two late goals saw the hosts walk away with the victory. On the 85th minute, Dinora Garza got the opening goal and deep into injury time Patricia Jardon added a second.

Atl. San Luis hosted the current runners up of the Apertura league, Monterrey and it was a 0-5 victory for the visiting team as goals from Diana Laura Evangelista Chavez, Monica Monsivais, Daniela Solis and a brace from Aylin Avilez saw an easy victory for Monterrey.

Club America welcomed Atlas in game that both teams scored but Atlas walked away 1-2 victors. A penalty for Alison Gonzalez put Atlas ahead before Daniela Espinosa pulled level with a great diving header. But not to be out it was Alison Gonzalez with a fantastic long range goal would be enough for Atlas to take all 3 points

Toluca picked up all 3 points away to Leon with a 0-2 victory with a goal in each half to ensure the win. A first half goal by Arlett Tovar was followed by a second half goal for Karen Becerril not too long after the restart.

Tigres picked up an impressive 3-0 victory at home over Pachuca to start their campaign with goals from Greta Alejandra Espinosa Casas and Stephany Mayor with a penalty in between that was scored by Katty Martinez.

Guadalajara would host Juarez in their first game and would come out 2-0 winners at home. An own goal in the first half by Melissa Sosa and a second half goal by Joselina Montoya made sure of the victory for the home side.
