Gameday 3 was coming up with Club America winning the two games they have played already and looking to continue the winning streak. An away day to Tijuana was next on the cards with a later kick-off of 1 am UK Time on Tijuana YouTube channel the game was streamed, which can be also watched back on their YouTube now as well. The good news before kick-off was that Jana Guiterrez had returned to the starting line up, as seen so far will be a few changes to the starting 11’s throughout the season.
Tijuana kicked off and started the play, Club America tried to get in quick out the blocks as an early through ball showed intent but Daniela Espinosa couldn’t quite get her boot to it. Tijuana nearly benefited from some sloppy Club America defending as Selene Valera got an important block in at the last minute to stop the effort from building into something else. Monica Rodriguez picked up an early booking after holding back the on running attacker after some sloppy play at the back from Club America. Jana Gutierrez does some incredible closing down work as she steals the ball off the Tijuana defence and plays in Daniela Espinosa who drags her shot wide of the goal. Jana’s work throughout the game was exceptional as she closed down and terrorized the Tijuana defence.
Tijuana get forward and in behind the Club America defence and as the attacker turns and shoots her effort goes low but Jaidy Gutierrez deals with the ball easily as she gets down to stop the shot on the 17th minute. Both teams were looking for the final piece and pass in the puzzle to open the scoring. Both teams were attacking and trying to get the first goal of the game. A tame free-kick from America and a last ditch tackle saw the score remain at 0-0. Tijuana seemed to take the upper hand and started to test the Club America defence, an effort seemed to strike the bar from Tijuana on the 24th minute as Club America were slow to close down the attacker.
Jana Gutierrez showed her quick feet and skill as she beats three defenders but her cross, unfortunately, had no one in the box to do anything with. A great ball is played into the box as Daniela Espinosa got her head to it the effort just went just wide of the goal but so close for Club America. Jana Gutierrez once again wins the ball off the defender and turns defence into attack but as the ball falls to Daniela Espinosa but once again she drags her shot wide of the goal. Dorian Hernandez plays in Monica Rodriguez who crosses the ball as the keeper dives and pushes it out, the ball falls to Daniela Espinsoa whose shot gets blocked and as the rebound rebounded to Jana Gutierrez it was blocked again. The final effort and kick of the half was blasted over the bar at the first half came to an end with all to play for and the score was 0-0.
The second half started and a through ball saw Tijuana breakthrough but Jaidy Gutierrez came out and saved the ball between her legs and kept hold of the effort as the half started to keep the ball at 0-0. A beautiful ball by Dorian Hernandez finds Daniela Espinosa who gets taken down but the referee calls it a fair tackle and if it was it was some tackle as Daniela looked in behind the defence. Jaidy Gutierrez was dealing with anything that came into the area with ease and didn’t look like she could be beaten.
Marlyn Campa picks out Dorian Hernandez, and Hernandez floats in a perfect cross and Daniela Espinosa glides in with a header at the far post that leaves the keeper no chance as the ball hits the back of the net to give Club America a 0-1 lead on the 53rd minute. Marlyn Campa once again works her magic on the ball to get Dorian Hernandez in behind the Tijuana defence and as Hernandez uses her strength to shield the ball the Tijuana defender is all over her resulting in a penalty given for Club America. Daniela Espinosa steps up for the penalty and with no doubt at all it is 0-2 to Club America. Espinosa slams the ball into the back of the net sending the keeper the wrong way. 2 goals in less than 5 minutes puts Club America in a strong position.
A yellow card is shown to Yadira Toraya for Tijuana on Daniela Espionsa on the 62nd minute. Jaidy Gutierrez once again plays the role of sweeper keeper as she runs out to stop another Tijuana attack from becoming anything. Jana Gutierrez doing what she had done all game causing the Tijuana defence troubles winning corners and getting past the wing-backs. Tijuana were trying to get back into the game but the Club America defence was standing up to everything that was thrown at them with Selene Valera and Jocelyn Orejel working hard at the back and they defended a 0-2 lead.
Daneila Espinosa once again goes on a run and is brought down by the Tijuana defender, Sheila Pulido gets a yellow card on the 79th minute. The 82nd minute sees Jana Gutierrez come off after running her socks off and is replaced by Janae Gonzalez on the 82nd minute. A long-range shot comes in as Jaidy Gutierrez deals with the ball easy enough on the 88th minute. The second and third change came for Club America as Daniela Espinosa and Marlyn Campa were replaced by Eva Gonzalez and Dalia Molina.
Club America break off Tijuana corner and as Dorian Hernandez is fouled once again it’s a yellow card for Ali Zapata of Tijuana. Into injury time, deep into Injury time on the 95th minute Club America got sloppy at the back and a deep cross into the box see’s the Tijuana attacker open at the far post as she connects well with the ball it gives Jaidy Guiterrez no chance in the Club America goal as Tijuana pull one back out of nowhere which maybe thankfully for Club America was almost the last kick of the game as well. Club America go 3 from 3 since the start of the season and will look to keep the run going as long as they can.
Player Of The Match – Jana Gutierrez – Even though it hard to argue against Daniela Espinosa who got two goals, Just Jana’s constant pressure of the defence and looking to get Club America forward and in behind the Tijuana defence was enough for me to pick her as player of the match.
