Game Day 4 for Club America in the Liga Mx Femenil as they host Toluca in their third game at home so far this season. A few changes to the line up see Jaidy Gutierrez return to the squad to start in goal as well as few other outfield changes. With a stuttering start to the season Club America will be looking to finish the game with all three points.

The game kicked off and it wasn’t too long before we saw our opening goal of the contest as Club America broke through the Toluca defence as Fernanda Pina manages to get a touch in and take it around the defender before slotting it into the corner to give Club America the perfect start after 3 minutes with a 1-0 lead. It was a fast start to the game as both teams were trying to create chances with the ball often being dealt with by the opposition for both teams. There was a shout for a penalty that wasn’t given on the 12th minute as Jennifer Munoz slide in for the tackle but didn’t touch Karen Becerril as she went to ground as the referee waved play on.

Both teams were erratic on the ball and couldn’t make anything count in the final third until a dangerous free kick was awarded as Maria Sanchez used her skills to win the free kick against Selene Valera. The free kick was hit with gusto as Jaidy Gutierrez couldn’t quite get her hand to it, maybe she could of done better but the free kick was hit well by Arlett Tovar as she scored directly from the free kick to make it 1-1 on the 17th minute. Both teams were struggling to threaten apart from the goals, Jaidy Gutierrez came off her line well to stop the Toluca attack before it was given offside.

Montserrat Hernandez was having joy up the wing but couldn’t get anything into the attackers off any notice to put the Toluca keeper under pressure. A great move on the 34th minute saw Toluca defender clear well as Daniela Flores looked to slide the ball into the net but a fantastic bloke off the low cross meant the score stayed level. But they couldn’t keep Daniela Flores quiet as she scored an incredible goal to give Club America the lead once again. Montserrat Hernandez put in a beautifully floated ball and it was met at the far post by a diving header by Daniela Flores to give Club America the 2-1 lead. It should have been 2-2 going into the break after a loose header at the back saw Nayeli Carvajal’s effort go wide when she should have scored. The half time whistle went with Club America 2-1 up.

Montserrat Hernandez put another great ball into the box as Club America tried to put the pressure on in the second half as they searched for the third goal that would of gave them some daylight. The first 15 minutes of the second half it looked as if Club America were more likely to add a third than Toluca pulling back level but Club America couldn’t take their chances. Daniela Espinosa who had been quiet so far linked up well with Monica Rodriquez but the Toluca goalkeeper rushed off her line and punched the ball away landing awkwardly as the pay stopped. A moment of madness nearly saw the third Club America goal as Daniela Flores blocked a free kick and it rebounded nicely for her too run onto but the Toluca keeper just got to it to clear her lines.

But in all games if you don’t take your chances you pay for it, Toluca let Club America off the hook as a wonderful chance was missed via a miss kick by Destinney Duran on the 70th minute. A double chance for substitute Mayra Pelayo as she ran from half way with the ball but had her shot blocked before she got in behind the defence once again but couldn’t make the chance count as her effort was hit straight at the Toluca keeper.

A corner comes in at the front post as Natalia Mauleon gets a touch on the ball it goes into the corner bringing the scores level 2 a piece on the 76th minute. But as the replays show if they had VAR in the build-up which led to the corner the Toluca player was well offside as the ball was played through to her. Club America got sloppy on the ball in the final minutes with trying to force the game and looked as if they could end up losing the game as Toluca looked to attack. The substitutes for Club America looked to try and get them the win at the end of the game and even though they put pressure on the opposition they couldn’t test the Toluca goalkeeper as they defended well with the final whistle going at 2-2.
