Photo Diary: Tottenham Hotspur 1 – 6 vs London City Lionesses

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a heavy defeat at Brisbane Road as London City Lionesses produced a dominant display to secure an impressive 6–1 victory.

The fixture was expected to be a closely fought contest between two in-form sides, with Spurs unbeaten and sitting second in the Women’s Super League before kick-off. However, London City quickly established control and turned their attacking pressure into goals.

Alexia Putellas opened the scoring before adding a second to put the visitors firmly in command, while Kadidiatou Diani also found the net as London City went into half-time with a commanding 3–0 lead.

Spurs responded shortly after the restart when Victoria Pelova pulled a goal back, offering the hosts a glimmer of hope. London City, though, quickly regained their momentum and continued to cause problems in the final third.

Danielle van de Donk restored their three-goal advantage before Diani completed her brace, with Delphine Cascarino adding a sixth to round off a remarkable afternoon for the visitors.

The result underlined London City’s attacking quality and sent a clear message about their ambitions this season, while Spurs will be left to reflect on a difficult afternoon after their unbeaten start came to an emphatic end.
