Moneyfields kept the pressure on undefeated league leaders AFC Bournemouth in the FA Women’s National League Division One South West with a crucial victory over Bristol Rovers.
At a rain-soaked Memorial Ground, the division’s top scorer, Shannon Albuery, opened the scoring in the 12th minute, while Beth Burgess doubled the lead just before half-time.
With Moneys able to keep their hosts at bay in the second half, they inflicted Rovers’ first defeat in four matches. Despite the setback Rovers remain in fifth place, but with two games in hand over Worthing and Swindon Town, third spot is still within their grasp.
We were fortunate to have Tom Phillips on hand to capture the action.
