Match Report: Reading 1-1 Everton

Willie Kirk took his Everton team to The Madejski Stadium to face Kelly Chambers Reading team, with both teams sitting on equal points but with Everton having two games in hand.
 
Some good passing on the wing saw Everton’s Claire Emslie cut inside but she couldn’t find the final product to threaten Grace Moloney’s goal.
 
The first big chance of the game came in the sixth minute from Amalie Eikeland but her shot is pushed away by Tinja-Riikka Korpela, while Megan Finnigan makes a really important challenge to stop the rebound.
 
Reading tried to get in behind the Everton defence but Tinja-Riikka Korpela comes off her line to clear the attack in what is a very open game.
 
In the twenty-second minute Amalie Eikeland founds some space but her effort was hit straight at the Tinja-Riikka Korpela.
 
Four minutes later a dangerous free-kick from Rachel Rowe is lofted into the Everton box, Amalie Eikeland hits but strikes the post. Megan Finnigan once again gets the important touch as she clears off the line.
 
Everton were having the better of the possession in the game but Reading created the two best chances of the game.
 
Reading took the lead after a ball into the box bounces off Danielle Carter and falls to Rachel Rowe who strikes the ball into an empty net to take a 1-0 lead on the 35th minute.
 
Some lapse defending by Everton nearly sees a Reading second but it’s not punished.
 
Just before half-time, Izzy Christiansen had a long-range pop at goal but it was straight at Moloney.
 
Everton came out for the second half on the offensive as Megan Finnigan looked for Alisha Lehmann with another fantastic ball but Reading manage to clear behind for a corner.
 
Rachel Rowe found herself in the thick of everything that Everton dif but both teams found it hard to get any sustained pressure as the hour mark ticks by.
 
Everton coninuted to push as a Claire Emsile corner beat everyone as it goes out for a goal-kick.
 
Reading nearly caught Everton cold on the counter but for a fantastic last-ditch tackle by Danielle Turner.
 
Everton pulled level with a header from Nicole Sorensen on the 77th minute as she headed in from a Wold cross.
 
In the closing seconds, Emma Mitchell hit a beautiful free-kick into the area as Deanna Cooper flicked it on it goes just wide of the goal. The final whistle goes with the game all square at 1-1 in a well fought draw.
