Match Report: Billericay Town 0-9 Plymouth Argyle

Argyle travelled away to Billericay, in Essex, making the nine hour round trip, for Matchday 14 of their Southern Premier Division 2025-26 campaign. The trip certainly was worth it, after they netted nine goals against Billericay Town for the second occasion this season, after doing so back in August.

Argyle kicked off the game with determination and a clear goal in mind, to get the three points and score as many goals as possible. Going into this game, they had clear ambitions, however were not quick to discredit Billericay, knowing they had improved since August. However, from the get-go, Argyle applied too much forward pressure on Billericay, forcing them into mistakes and unnatural positions as Tianna Teisar’s early effort hit the back of the net, before the offside call was made by the referee.

Argyle didn’t have long to wait to find their opener of the game, as a minute later, Olivia Francis confidently found the back of the net with a side-footed finish. Another opportunity for Argyle, which ended in a goal kick, minutes later, an incredible display of teamwork, found the ball at Ellie Noble’s feet, whose left-footed strike flew past the gloves of Billericay keeper, Tyrii Bell.

Less than five minutes later, Argyle earned their third of the afternoon, through Tianna Teisar, on loan from Bristol City. Olivia Francis’ precise delivery found the boots of Welsh international, Tianna Teisar, who found the back of the net from close range.

Teisar was on fire, as she earned her third real opportunity of the game. Tianna was quick to get her second of the afternoon, as she volleyed the ball from the penalty spot, after a clearance from Billericay’s backline ricocheted into her path.

With five minutes left to play of the first half, Billericay gave away a penalty after Argyle forward, Una Lue, was fouled in the box from behind. Una Lue was quick to get up, and receive the ball as she hovered over the penalty spot. Her strike from the penalty spot found the back of the net, as Argyle’s confidence seemed to peak.

As soon as play had restarted, Una Lue, like the incredible forward she is, attacked forward and managed to find the back of the net, only a minute after her first goal of the afternoon. Una found the ball in the net within the four minutes of additional time, as her personal performance peaked, however the offside call was made before the half time break occurred in Essex.

Going back into the second half, Argyle were confident in their performance, eager to add to the scoreline, whilst Howard Mackler’s Billericay side took in all the messages at half-time, in the hopes of preventing Argyle from finding the back of the net on as many occasions as they did in the first half.

The second half was relatively quiet in the opening twenty minutes, with the only real action being a halftime substitution, as Learna Daniels replaced Melissa Jones.

However, that changed in a matter of seconds after Billericay saved the initial threat of a corner, which rebounded into the path of Argyle’s lurking number 14, Katie Wilson, who headed home Argyle’s seventh of the afternoon.

Within the next 20 minutes, Layla Proctor was shown a yellow for a foul in Billericay’s half, whilst both sides made a double substitution. Billericay brought on Aimee Cawood and Leyla Priest for Megan McAniskey and Summer Addy. Whilst Argyle brought on fresh energy in Paris Dalton and Charlotte Whitmore, as Layla Proctor and Tamara Wilcock’s afternoon came to an end.

In the 80th minute, Una Lue bagged her hat-trick for the afternoon, following a quick counter attack, as her right-footed effort flew past the gloves of Tyrii Bell.

Both sides made one final change. Argyle made a defensive change as Argyle skipper Giota Papaioannou replaced Katie Wilson. Whilst the hosts made their final change as Macie Windsor replaced Liz Santiago.

Into additional time at the end of the ninety, Argyle were able to get their ninth and final goal of the afternoon. After Olivia Francis intercepted possession of the ball from sloppy play from Billericay, she drove forward and punished them by finding the back of the net, to get her second of the afternoon.

Full-time in Essex ended Argyle nine, Billericay nil, as Argyle look towards a midweek clash against Exeter City on Wednesday in the Devon Challenge Cup, before they host Burnley at Home Park in FAWNL Cup Semifinal Action on Sunday.

Picking up the three points on the road means that Argyle currently advance to second in the league with 30 points, 2 points behind Watford. However, Bournemouth, who were top of the league ahead of today, do have a two game advantage over Watford and Argyle, as well as Exeter (in eighth), whilst Real Bedford (in fifth) and Lewes (in sixth) still have a game at hand.
