Match Report: MK Dons vs Watford

Watford run riot at Stadium MK as they score 5 past the Dons to walk away with all 3 points as they remain in the hunt for the league title.

After Sundays emphatic victory moved the golden girls up to 3rd in the FAWNL Southern Section. Watford are now 6 points back from the top and will be looking forward for the remining games with great confidence. Could the League title coming to Watford this season?

Watford started the game with a point to prove and found the back of the net within the opening 30seconds of the game. Dre Georgiou scoring within 34seconds. Yes, you read this right… 34 seconds…

Going down as one of the fastest goals scored in the competition, and arguably the quickest goal this season.

But Watford where not done yet… Watford made it 2 in the space of a few minutes as Gemma Davison fired home to make it 2, and only 3 minutes on the clock the writing was on the wall. This proved to be right as with only 7 minutes played Poppy Wilson popped up and slotted the ball past Sansom in goal to make it 3.

Dons were shellshocked along with the 500+ fans who had just witness Watford’s early rampage. But credit must be given to the fans, as much as the Dons were 3-0 down in 7 minutes, they still made lots of noise as they tried to help get the home side back into the game.

But sadly, it wasn’t meant to be, and it got even worse for the Dons. Wilson popped up for her second goal of the match in the 19th minute, and the game was finally killed off as Sophie McLean leaped unmarked at the back post with a powerful header to make it 5…

Manager Charlie Bill agreed that it was a tough day, and that it was an embarrassing performance in the first half, and that it didn’t reflect what MK Dons Women are about as a team. Saying his side made too many mistakes and they were too easy to play against. But was pleased that his squad showed a reaction in the second half to keep the score at 0-0
