This Sunday sees MK Dons Women take on Selsey Women FC in the determining round of the FAWNL League Cup.
Fans might be feeling a strange sense of déjà vu as this time last year the Dons once again took on Selsey in the Cup. But this time around the Dons will be hosting instead of making the 284 mile round trip to the seaside.
Previous Meeting – Selsey Women 0-1 MK Dons Women 25-9-2022
Amy Mclean scored the only goal in a tight and contested Cup fixture.
Nicola Puddick set up the only goal, as she fired the ball across goal. McLean positioned herself brilliantly in the box, which rewarded Mclean with an easy tap-in finish.
Charlie Bill’s Women searched to double their advantage. Gemma Biggadike’s header was tipped over the bar by the Selsey keeper, who displayed a strong performance.
MK Dons still tried to find a second goal, but the home side’s defence continued to stand strong and prevent the Dons’ chances from increasing their lead. But McLean’s goal early in the second half decided the match in favour of MK Dons, who claimed a 1-0 victory.
The Dons will be once again looking to overcome Selsey and enjoy another Cup run that saw them get to the League Cup Quarter Finals only to be knocked out be eventual Finalist Watford.
