Glasgow City have announced the signing of American born striker Krystyna Freda on loan from Cypriot Champions Apollon Ladies.
Freda has netted 245 goals in the past three seasons for the Cypriot champions and links to with City ahead of the UEFA Women’s Champions League clash with German Champions VFL Wolfsburg.
Last month the forward was also named to the NCAA Division 1 Big South Conference Team of the Decade after excelling during her time at Winthrop University.
The striker has played against Glasgow City before scoring against them in the process for Somatio Barcelona in 2018 in the Champions League at Petershill Park in the last 32 of the competition.
City manager Scott Booth said “Krystyna is a stand out striker. We’re all looking forward to having her in our squad for the loan period. She is a player we’ve competed against previously so we all know how dangerous she can be. It’s great news that this time she’ll be playing in Glasgow City’s colours.”
On signing for the Scottish Champions Freda explained “I am so excited to be joining Glasgow City to help them in the UEFA Women’s champions league finals tournament. Glasgow is a strong, amazing team that has proven that they are one of the best teams in Europe and I feel honoured to be a part of this next challenge with them.”
She is City’s second signing of the summer, joining full-back Zaneta Wyne, who arrived from Norwegian side Klepp.
