Sunderland kicked off the WSL 2 campaign in style with a convincing 4–0 win away to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
Izzy Atkinson broke the deadlock just before the interval, volleying home from a Katy Watson cross. After the restart, Rhiannon Roberts doubled the lead with a header from a corner, Katie Kitching added a thunderous strike into the top corner, and Emily Scarr sealed the result with a calm finish after capitalising on a defensive slip — a performance that underlined a sharp and confident start to the season for the Lasses.
We were fortunate to have photographer Clare Wood (@shootslikeagirlphotography) on hand to capture the action.
