Oxford United continued their dominant start to the season with a convincing 5-0 victory over a youthful Plymouth Argyle side on home soil.
The result keeps Oxford at the top of the table with a perfect record of five wins from five, 15 points and an impressive +22 goal difference.
Sophie Quirk, one of the club’s summer recruits, continued her excellent start to life at Oxford by scoring a hat-trick, while leading goalscorer Holly Manders also found the net three times. Ruby Sealey completed the scoring with her first goal of the 2026/27 campaign.
Oxford will now turn their attention to their next FA Women’s National League fixture against AFC Bournemouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium before hosting Arsenal U21s in the FAWNL Cup on Sunday.
For Plymouth Argyle, the difficult start to the campaign continued as they remain at the foot of the table following five defeats, with no points and a -22 goal difference.
The Pilgrims will look to respond when they host Real Bedford at Home Park in their next league fixture before welcoming Torquay United in the FAWNL Cup on Sunday.
The cup tie will also support a fundraising campaign for Torquay United No.3 and former Plymouth Argyle defender Roxy Thomas, 18, who is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumour. Proceeds from match tickets will be donated towards the fundraiser.
Those wishing to support Roxy’s fundraiser can donate through the GoFundMe – Raising for Roxy campaign.
