Moneyfields continue their unbeaten record at ‘Fortress’ Cams Alders with a 1-1 draw against Southampton Women.
The Sirens came the closest to breaking the deadlock in the thirty-fourth minute as Laura Vokes’ dipping shot hit Georgia Jenkins’ crossbar before being cleared.
Just after, Moneys were forced into an early change as Kau’Inohea Taylor replaced Sitarz who had unfortunately picked up a knock.
Moments later it was the visitors who broke the deadlock when Shannon Albuery finished well after some good work by Hope Suominen.
Just before the half time whistle Albuery thought she had doubled the lead but her effort came off the post.
Moneys began the second half brightly and in the fifty-fourth minute pulled one back through Taylor, she acrobatically finished from close range after the Sirens failed to clear Kim Whitcombe’s free kick.
In the closing moments of added time, substitute Jade Widdows thought that she’d found herself through on goal but Chloe Tucker was able to recover and the referee blew the final whistle straight after.
A neutral would suggest that a draw was a fair result but both sides left the pitch feeling frustrated as they both will have felt that they had enough quality to have taken all three points.
We were fortunate to have Sheena Booker on hand to capture all of the action.
