Photo Diary: Manchester United 2 – 3 Bayern Munich

Manchester United’s Champions League quarter-final first leg ended in a narrow 3–2 defeat to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford, in a game defined by fine margins and clinical finishing.

Pernille Harder, a United fan growing up, struck twice for the visitors, both times exploiting space in behind, whilst Maya Le Tissier levelled from the penalty spot after an early setback. United showed resilience again when Hanna Lundkvist headed home a second equaliser shortly after Harder’s brace.

However, with the game finely poised, substitute Momoko Tanikawa fired Bayern back in front late on, giving the German side a crucial advantage to take into the second leg.

Despite the result, United’s response to adversity and ability to compete with one of Europe’s elite sides offers encouragement ahead of the return fixture.
