The FA Women’s Championship season drew to a close last weekend. London City Lionesses secured an impressive second-place finish with a 3-1 against Blackburn Rovers. Gemma Donnelly’s side limped over the finishing line five points above Coventry United after four defeats in their final five matches.

Jamie-Lee Napier scored a goal on either side of half time to see Melissa Phillips’ team into a 2-0 lead. Saffron Jordon pulled one back in the seventieth minute only for Amy Rodgers to seal the win shortly after, making amends for her first half penalty miss.

We were fortunate to have photographer Ed Payne on hand to capture all of the action.
