Portsmouth showed real resilience in the first half, refusing to back down and sit low despite already facing the depths of relegation and facing a Crystal Palace side desperate to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.
Pompey struck early and shocked many, but Place were quick to counteract, leaving the score 1-1 at halftime. The home side emerged from the dressing room for the second half with a ruthless mindset and capitalised on the opportunities created by the Pompey players to then go 4-1 up inside 15 minutes.
Although automatic promotion was now in sight as a win would seal it, Palace did not save anything for Pompey and finished off two more goals in the 64th and 69th minute, leaving the full-time score to 6-1.
Olivia Baird was on hand to capture all the action and fans reaction of a rememberable afternoon at the VBS Community Stadium.
