Yeovil United put in a great performance and a proper shift from when they took on fellow title contenders Watford in an entertaining 1-1 draw.

In the early stages of the game Watford applied pressure on Yeovil. Helen Ward was given space to run through but former Yeovil player Sarah Wiltshire wasn’t able to get past Beth Howard.

Yeovil came close just after! A lovely ball from Jenna Markham managed to find Heatherson but her left-footed shot was narrowly wide.

Yeovil had some positive pieces of play and were pulling saves out of Watford’s keeper. Katie Jones had a good chance but Wiggins did well to stop the shot from going into the back of the net.

After this Ffion Llewellyn made what looked like a good tackle just outside the box but the referee and his official gave Watford a penalty and O’Leary gave Watford the lead.

Just before half time one of Chloe Lloyd’s free-kick found Jenna Markham who found the back of the net giving Yeovil a well-deserved goal.

Half Time: Watford 1-1 Yeovil

At the beginning of the second half, Yeovil had a lot of possession and were able to get the ball around the pitch but they struggled to create any chances.

Kelly Aldridge very nearly gave United the lead but her shot hit the post.

In the latter stages of the second half both teams were pushing to try and take the three points. Yeovil had a couple of free-kicks but none of them came to anything.

Even though Yeovil were on top they went able to find a winner. A great team performance from all the girls meant that Yeovil United took a point home. It was a much better display from Yeovil and some really stand out performances!

It would be hard to pick out one key player as a lot of players stepped up and performed really well. Ffion Llewellyn had a really good game as well as Ebony Dover, Tia Asker and Kelly Aldridge.
