Match Preview MK Dons vs Billericay Town FC

After 77 Days… Finally, MK Dons Women return to league action vs Billericay Town at Fairfields Sports Hub Milton Keynes.

Over the last 77 Days the dons have managed to book themselves into the Berks and Bucks Cup Final, face and go toe to toe with Championship side Charlton in the FA Cup, and reach the Quarter Finals of the FAWNL League Cup, only to be knocked out by an impressive Watford side last weekend.

Manager Charlie Bill and the whole squad are looking forward to getting back into the habit of league football, as they look to improve on their steady start to the league campaign and push for a top 4 finish in the league.

Due to recent cup games and postponements the Dons are currently sitting in 9th in the table with 8 games played. Sides around them have currently played 10 – 12 games.

If the Dons can put a run of results together it could see them jump up the table and secure their position within the league once again for the 2023/24 season.

Last time the two sides met, Billericay took all 3 points from the Dons with a 2-1 win at New Lodge.

Zoe Rushen and Jessica King scored two early goals for Town. In the second half they battled with 10 players after Logan Marie O’Shaea was sent off.

Dons managed to pull a goal back by Leoni Miceli, but as the Dons tried and tried to force for the second goal, they were blunted by the Billericay defence as they went on to earn their first points of the season.

Mollie Coupar – MK Dons Women

“It’s never nice to lose a game of football. Full credit to Watford, they were a very good outfit but it’s important now we turn our attention to the run of league games. We have regrouped, worked hard, reflected and we are ready to bounce back.

I have full belief that we can go and pick up points and climb the table. Its an opportunity we will grab with both hands.

Our current table position isn’t an accurate reflection on the journey this group have been on since last season. We have our targets and we will continue to work towards achieving these”

MK Dons Manager- Charlie Bill “Last week was a setback, but there are still positives we can take & learning points. We are looking forward to a run of league games now where I truly believe this group can have an incredibly exciting run from now till the end of the season”
