Since 71 Proudly Sponsoring Whitehaven’s Phoebe Mullen in 2025/26

At Since 71, we have always prided ourselves on giving back to the women’s game. One way we do this is through player sponsorship, and this season we are delighted to continue that tradition by supporting Whitehaven striker, Phoebe Mullen.

This sponsorship feels particularly special for me. Although I’m based on the south coast, I have deep family ties to Whitehaven, on the west coast of Cumbria. Supporting a player from the town feels like a way of connecting those two important parts of my life.

Whitehaven Women currently compete in the Lancashire Women’s County League Division One North, and Phoebe is one of the exciting players driving the team forward. We caught up with her to find out a little more about her journey.

It’s really pleasing to be able to share this news on the back of an 8-1 win over GT7 Academy Reserves, with Phoebe netting the fourth goal.

Introducing Phoebe Mullen

“I live in a little village called Haverigg, about 30 miles from Whitehaven,” Phoebe explained. “It means I’ve always had to travel quite far to train and play football. I started out with a local boys’ team when I was about seven or eight, before moving into girls’ football.”

Like many grassroots players, Phoebe has tried her hand in several positions but has recently found her home up front. “I’ve played in lots of positions over the years, but I’ve settled as a striker for the last couple of seasons.”

Her passion for football also runs in the family. “I’ve always supported Liverpool thanks to my Grandad’s influence—much to my dad’s annoyance as he’s an Aston Villa fan! I think I made the right choice though!” she laughs.

Style of Play

When asked how she would describe her playing style, Phoebe didn’t hesitate: “Fast! My coach has already given me the nickname ‘Roadrunner,’ though I’m not sure I fully understand the reference!”

That speed, combined with her versatility, makes her a constant threat for defenders across the division.

Like many young players in the women’s game, Phoebe grew up following the Lionesses. “My biggest idol has to be Georgia Stanway. She started out at Dalton, not too far from me, and it’s inspiring to see someone from our part of the world make it to the top level.”

The Value of Sponsorship

For Phoebe, receiving sponsorship is about more than financial support. “I’m really happy to have sponsorship, especially from people who care deeply about women’s football. It makes me feel more supported and confident as a player.”

Her manager, Rob Campbell, echoed this sentiment, “The individual player sponsorships mean so much more than money. We keep the costs low so it’s accessible for players and not a barrier to playing. Sponsorship helps with equipment, matchday costs, hydration, and food—things that often come out of coaches’ pockets. When we get extra funding, it really makes a difference.”

“Beyond the finances, it gives our players more exposure, which can help them both in football and in their careers. It also strengthens our community ties. Having local companies and supporters involved generates conversations, builds connections, and helps grow our fanbase.”

Whitehaven Women are working hard to build their presence both on and off the pitch, and players like Phoebe embody the dedication and passion that drives grassroots football. Sponsorship may appear small on paper, but as Phoebe and Rob highlight, its impact extends far beyond finances—it’s about community, visibility, and confidence in the women’s game.

At Since 71, we’re proud to play a part in that journey and look forward to supporting Phoebe and sharing her fortunes throughout this season.
