Southampton FC Women were narrowly beaten by Newcastle United in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2, losing 2–1.
Newcastle took an early lead after just 15 seconds and doubled their advantage before half-time through a Jordan Nobbs brace. Despite a late goal from substitute Tegan McGowan, her first for the club, Southampton were unable to complete a comeback.
