In freezing, rain-soaked conditions, a resilient Hull City side battled back from an early setback to claim a commanding comeback win over Halifax. Despite conceding in the fourth minute after a goalkeeping error, City grew into the game as the first half progressed.
The second half saw a shift in momentum, sparked by 16-year-old substitute Maiya Akrill’s energy and pressure. Hope Knight equalised from the penalty spot before goals from Sophie Haywood, Hamill, and finally Akrill herself sealed a deserved 4–1 victory. Backed passionately by their travelling fans, City showed grit, spirit, and much-needed confidence to warm a cold, wet afternoon.
We were fortunate to have photographer Clare Overfield (@shootslikeagirlphotography) on hand to capture the action.
