West Ham United ended Aston Villa’s unbeaten start to the Women’s Super League season with a 2-1 win at the Bescot Stadium. Goals from Dagny Brynjarsdottir and Honoka Hayashi gave the visitors an early lead.

West Ham keeper Mackenzie Arnold saved Alisha Lehmann’s second-half penalty, not too long after Kenza Dali pulled a goal back for Villa.

The match ended in dramatic fashion as West Ham defender Hawa Cissoko was sent off for hitting out at Sarah Mayling. This continued off the pitch involving both benches and ended with West Ham boss Paul Konchesky also dismissed for his involvement.

We were fortunate to have photographer Ryan Asman on hand to capture all of the action.
