Cardiff City came into the final without a loss in any match this season with Cardiff Met coming off a home loss of 4-0 to Swansea City and not scoring in the last three matches. It could have been expected that Met would come into this match with a little trepidation, but they took the initiative going into the break 2-0 up following a brace from Erin Murray (15′ p, 22′). In the second half City pulled one back through Siobhan Walsh (68′ p) although Ellie Preece (78′) scored for Met to make it 3-1 and the trophy was on its way to Cyncoed Campus.
