News: Pina Extends Barca Deal, While van der Gragt Departs

Ajax have signed Netherlands International Stefanie van der Gragt. The 27-year-old defender leaves Spanish giants FC Barcelona. 
 
During her time at Barcelona she played a total of 21 games , in which she scored 3 goals. The defender also went on to win a League, a Spanish Super Cup and 2 Catalunya Cups.
 
Speaking on her move back to her home country she said “I am very happy that I can play football here again after two nice seasons at FC Barcelona. It was time for me to go back to the Netherlands and I am happy that I can sign for such a beautiful club. ”
 
Daphne Koster, manager of women’s football at Ajax added . “I think we as a club should be proud of this. This shows that we are making good progress with Ajax Women. I personally think Stefanie is the best defender in the world. It is now important that we use her well, because she is an injury-prone player”. 
 
Meanwhile Barcelona have confirmed that promising forward Claudia Pina has extended her deal at the Catalan giants until 2023. 
 
Pina made her official debut for the senior team in January 2018. She was only 16 at the time and she set the record as the youngest player ever to play for Barcelona women. 
 
Speaking on her new deal Pina said ” I am very happy to announce that I am still at FC Barcelona for at least three more years. Since I came to the club my only goal has been to grow and evolve and I only have words of gratitude for all those who have made it possible. I promise to return it with work and effort ”.
