Manchester United have confirmed that Aimee Palmer will leave the club following the expiration of her contract.
Palmer made 15 appearances and scored one goal during her United career, and had most recently been on loan at FA Women’s Championship club Sheffield United.
Manchester United manager Casey Stoney said: “Aimee has been with us from the start of this journey and will be forever be a part of Manchester United Women’s history makers. I have seen her grow as a player and person both on and off the pitch, and I would like to thank her for her efforts over the last couple of years and wish her the best of luck going forward.”
Palmer added on her social media channels “Only 5 years ago, I was still the only girl playing against boys on boggy pitches and in oversize kits”.
“If you’d have told any of those players on those pitches that they would have the chance to play for Manchester United, they would have never believed you”.
“But I had a dream and my dream came true. I did not think that I would get my opportunity to play for such a massive club at such a young age, but dreams do come true. I have had such an amazing time, met some fantastic people along the way and have come out the other end a better football player then I was when I first signed”.
“It is time for me to move on from the club and I will be forever proud to have played a part in the resurgence of Manchester United Women”.
“I want to say a big thank you to Casey and all the staff for taking a chance on me and giving me an opportunity to succeed and develop here”.
“To my team mates who have been by my side throughout my time in Manchester and have pushed me to be the best I can be. Lastly to the fan, The Barmy Army, for keeping us entertained and travelling near and
far to watch us play!”.
” I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me, I’m very excited to get going again and I’m sure the best is still yet to come”.
“Thank you Manchester United”.
