MK Dons Women U23 vs Southampton Women’s FC Development squad in the FAWNL Reserve Cup.
With the Dons first team being called off earlier in the morning due to a frozen surface. The U23 didn’t disappoint the crowd that gathered at Fairfield’s Sports Hub on Sunday afternoon.
The Dons won the game 7-2 and advanced to the next round.
Gabby Maia once again was the star for the Dons netting in yet another hat-trick. Maia is currently sitting 16 league goals, and 25 goals in all competitions. Showing the plethora of attacking options the Dons have waiting in reserve.
Dons U23 Graduate Reni Bennett and current first team squad member also showed why she is now playing with the first team. After her dominated display in midfield. Reni managed to score arguably the goal of the game with a great solo effort.
Reni took hold of the ball and drove at the heart of the Southampton defence. After beating 3 of the Southampton defenders she carried her run into the box and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net.
