After 4 successive away games, Stadium MK opened its doors to 1180 expecting fans, and the record-breaking crowd went away jubilant after the final whistle as the Dons won their third game in a row. Mollie Coupar scoring her 21st goal of the season, as well as goals from Angelina Nixon & Laura Mitchell. Saw the Dons win 3-1
First Half –
Starting brightly the Dons looked to exert their control over the fixture by dominating the Crawley midfield. Dons thought they took an early lead, only for it to be denied by the referee due to a foul by Coupar in the build-up that led to the goal.
This sparked massive confusion not just with the players on the pitch, but as well as the fans in the stadium as they were in disbelief the goal was chalked off.
Yet within merely seconds from the dramatic re start Crawley took advantage of the complaints from the Dons players and scored from an impressive swift counterattack from a goal line free kick 0-1
Nixon was able to win the ball back high up the pitch, and with her strength and power was able to drive at the Crawley defence. As she went into the area, she let off a powerful shot that was spilled by the Crawley keeper, and Dons top goal scorer had the simple job of putting the ball in the back off the net. 1-1
Dons managed to take control of the game, from a well taken corner routine, Gould fired the ball into the near post area. Nixon using her strength and power was able to run to the near post Infront of her defender and got her head on the ball. The ball looped over the Crawley keeper into the back of the net 2-1
Second half –
Dons once again looked bright going forward, and in the 51st minute put the game to bed with the 3rd goal of the game. After a long ball over the top from Gemma Biggadike, Coupar was running clear, Crawley keeper tried to intercept the ball about 35yds out but missed controlled the ball. Coupar looked up to see Gould wide open on the far side and played a long ball. Gould managed to compose herself and found Mitchell unmarked in the area, and she did the rest as she calmly put the ball in the back of the net. 3-1
Dons were able to see out the game relatively easy towards the end. What worked out in the Dons favour as Charlies Bill’s side face a though midweek game away to Oxford on Tuesday night. After taking 10 points from 12, the Dons will be confident of getting a result Oxford and get revenge from the defeat early on this season at Stadium MK.
