Match Report: Club America 2-1 Juarez

Game Day Two for Club America as they play at home once again as the welcome Juarez for the match. After a loss in the first game Club America will be looking to get their season underway.

The first real chance of the game came on the 10th minute when a ball by Monsterrat Hernandez was nearly got too by Mayra Pelayo for Club America but an important touch by the keeper made sure the score remained 0-0 early on. Club America in the first opening 15 minutes have the most of the play and attacks but are yet to make any play or pressure count. Out of nowhere Juarez are in behind the Club America defence but the Juarez striker, Silvia Eilcerio pulls the ball wide of the goal. If the goal had stood it would have been controversial as the attacker was defiantly offside.

Juarez looks to get in behind the Club America defence but a great clearance and tracking run by Janelly Farias. Club America just can’t seem to connect pass A to pass B to open up the Juarez defence as they are spending most the time on the ball. A goal for Club America on the 24th minute to open the scoring sees the Keeper end up injuring her arm as a cross by Daniela Espinosa is turned in by the Juarez defender, Gabriela Alvarez and she seems to also stand on the goalkeeper’s arm in a double blow for the team. But 1-0 Club America via an own goal as the Keeper gets up to try and soldier on.

Some good work nearly sees create a good chance but as the Juarez player gets past the Club America defence her effort isn’t connected with well as the ball rolls back into Natlia Acuna arms. A dangerous free-kick for Juarez on the 38th minute as Selena Valera miss times her tackle on Celeste Vidal. The free-kick breaks to Brenda Alvarado who hits an effort but it goes wide of the goal as it doesn’t bend towards the goal. A ball into the box nearly catches out Natlia Acuna but thankfully the mistake wasn’t punished as Keeper and defender nearly got in a right mess. A goal for Juarez as Atzimba Casas drives at the Club America defence and hits a shot that Natlia Acuna can’t handle as they pull level just before half time at 1-1. The half time whistle goes with the scores level as Juarez grew into the game and the half with all to play for in the second half.

The second half gets underway and Fernanda Pina works the ball well to get Club America into a position but Juarez clear the ball for a corner which Janelly Farias goes for the overhead kick but it doesn’t quite come off early on. A scrappy start to the second half as both teams can’t seem to create anything that is troubling the Keepers in the early minutes of the half. Just as it looks like Club America are in behind ball pulled back across the box by Fernanda Pina can’t quite find Daniela Espinosa as she seems to get it all wrong in the box. Jana Gutierrez goes into the referee’s book just before the hour mark for a late tackle.

More mix up’s at the back nearly comes for Club America but Monica Rodriguez manages to make sure the ball gets cleared without any danger. Both teams start tot get a little spice to their play as a few fouls are all that’s worth making note off as both teams look to get the next and important goal in the game going into the final 20 minutes as the score remains at 0-0. Club America looking good on the ball until it comes to the final ball which so far in the game they haven’t managed to link up as it all been too easy for Alondra Ubaldo in the Juarez goal.

Nearly a massive mistake at the back when Natlia Acuna gets shutdown as she trys to kick the ball clear as Aztimba Casas nearly gets in behind but Natlia Acuna gets the ball on the second attempt. Diana Garcia enters the pitch for the final 10 minutes who really impressed me in the opening game with her quick feet but both teams now knowing the next goal could be the winning goal. Daniela Espinosa trys a back heel at goal but as the ball falls in front of her she seems to stumble but Juarez defend it well again as Club America try to turn the screw. And the pressure tells as Eva Gonzalez scores an absolute peach as she hits it from outside the box as it moves and dips into the corner over Alondra Ubaldo head to give Club America the 2-1 lead with the final 5 minutes left to play in the game. Club America try to play the ball into the corner during the final few minutes as they try to see out their first win of the new season. The board is held up and 5 minutes inury time, the referee seems to blow with 4 minutes of the 5 on the board, maybe to Club America’s relief as they can certiantly feel they was in a game to win their first game of the season. It ended 2-1 to Club America with Eva Gonzalez’s goal being worthy of being the winning goal but a great battle by Juarez up till the final whistle.
