This Sunday sees MK Dons once again take part in another cup competition as they travel to local rivals Watford in the FAWNL League Cup Quarter Final.
After last weekend’s 3-0 win in the Berks & Bucks County Cup and their performance vs Championship side Charlton in the FA Cup, the Dons are currently in a buoyant mood ahead of this huge game.
The game itself sees Watford as huge favourites after they were relegated last season from the Barclays Championship. Watford were still able to maintain key squad members form last season and are currently sitting strong in 3rd in the FAWNL Southern Premiership with 2 games in hand and will be looking to mount a title challenge throughout the rest of the season.
The match itself sees MK Dons holding midfielder Gemma Biggadike come up against her old club. Gemma joined MK Dons on loan originally, but after making an impressive start to her Dons career the Dons eventually signed her up after she was released from Watford in the summer. Gemma has become a key player for the Dons in midfield. Not just with her defensive work breaking down team attacks but has also provided a few notable long-range strikes that shows she is as hungry for goals as well as she is for defence and team duties.
Gemma Biggadike – MK Dons Women – “I feel motivated for every game, no matter the opposition. As a a team we are all excited for Sunday, and we’re looking forward to putting hopefully another top performance in. We’ve worked hard this season, and picked up some great momentum.
It of course be nice to catch up with some familiar faces, but I’m not going to be thinking about any of that until the game is over”
MK Dons Manager Charlie Bill – “After such an excellent result on Sunday we look forward to our final Cup test for a few weeks competing in the Women’s National League Quarter Final. They don’t get much tougher than Watford away from home however we are going into the game in a real good run of form & are excited about the test that they will present. It’s going to be another big occasion that I have no doubt this group will step up too”
