This year’s revamped Emirates Cup competition will see the Arsenal men’s and women’s side face off against world-class opposition. Joe Montemurro’s WSL champions will go head-to-head with Champions League semi-finalists Bayern Munich Frauen to start the day, kick off at 12.30pm. While Unai Emery’s men will then face Ligue 1 side Lyon in their only pre-season match at Emirates Stadium, kick off at 3.15pm.
I’ve been banging the drum for women’s and men’s games being played as a double header, especially at the club’s main stadium. So I am really pleased to see that Arsenal are taking the lead and setting the right example to the rest of the game.
Fans will be able to see both games with the one ticket. Tickets are priced from only £25 for adults and £12 for concessions. Arsenal Members will receive exclusive first rights on purchasing tickets. Gold and Platinum Members can purchase their own seats for the day from 10 am on Monday, May 20th; Silver Members from 10 am on Thursday, May 23rd and Red Members from 3 pm on Thursday, May 23rd. Full ticket details can be found here.
Managing director Vinai Venkatesham said: “We’re delighted to be hosting the return of the Emirates Cup in a new format in July. Supporters will have the first chance to see both our women’s and men’s teams play at Emirates Stadium on the same day before the start of the new season.
“We are particularly thrilled that the schedule has allowed us to feature our highly successful women’s team as part of this event. The match will follow this summer’s World Cup where many of our players will have featured and will be another indicator of the rapid growth of the women’s game.”
