World Cup Preview: England vs Argentina

England’s second group match kicks off against an Argentina team who come into this game confident after securing their first ever point at the world cup. This will be another good test for them.  Argentina having played a defensive game against Japan, has given the opportunity to England to cement their place in group D if they win.

Argentina are ranked 34 places behind England in the world rankings and should give England confidence to win this game comfortably. However, if England play like they did in the second half against Scotland they will struggle. England need to keep focused for the full 90 minutes, to ensure a win.

The key player in this match for England will be Lucy Bronze, who played down the right with an attacking flair for a defender and with the crossed balls into the box. I’m sure that the likes of Nikita Parris and Ellen White will score goals from this.

Argentina’s form going into this world cup has been mixed. Having lost three of their last four games. Having an inexperienced team with most of the players with less than twenty caps. This inexperience will show against a very experienced England team.

Key Player for Argentina is Sole Jaimes who is their main striker, who plays for Lyon.  I believe she will be the only threat for England. And if she can get onto the ball may cause problems.

I believe that England will set up as a 4-4-3. And will want to make up for their missed chances from the last game. Argentina will go for a more defensive 4-1-4-1 system again. Which worked against Japan in their last game overall, England will just be too strong for them and I predict a 3-0 scoreline.
